Wednesday 19 October 2011

I have so many items to show. I just pick my favourites. I still have more yarns to use and I dont mean scraps.
Here you have the little sweater teamed with booties and hat.

This blanket is made up of granny squares. the two colours compliments each other.

This suits girl or boy. Goes well with matching hat &and booties.

I made this set for my first grand child before knowing what sex to expect. I had a grand daughter.
She looks beautiful. The bluey green goes well with the white.

Here are some of my favourite baby clothes. This is a nice little short sleeved sweater.

Here I teamed it with a pair of matching pants.

Dusk Till Dawn Bag - Free Pattern

Fellow crafters here is the pattern I promised!
This my latest bag, I hope you enjoy making it.

Dusk Till Dawn Bag Pattern
Skill level : Intermediate

Materials Needed:
300g of main colour wool (of your choice) (double knit)
50g each of two contrasting colours (double knit)
4mm crochet hook
Sewing needle & matching thread (for main colour)
Scissors
1/2 meter of fabric (36 ins wide)

Stitches used:
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Chain (ch)
Slipstitch (s st)

Base
Chain 32, and measure length of chain. If you want your bag bigger, add extra chains e.g. 42.
2 dc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 dc in each of the rest of the chains to the last ch. Do not turn work. 1 more dc in the last ch. 1 dc across to the opposite side of ch. Work 2 dc in corner ch. Continue
working on opposite side making 2 dc in the last ch. Fasten this row with a sc in the top of the
first dc made. Work 4 more rows for width of base. If you want it wider work more rows with 2 dc in each corner st. Always fasten with sc in top of dc at begining of the row.
Sides* Pattern Rows

Row 1 : Ch 1 sc in same place for base of ch 1. Sc in back loop each st around, close round with sc in 1st sc. Do not turn.

Row 2 : Ch 3, (1st dc) work 1 dc in back loop of each sc all around end row with sc in top of first dc which is the ch 3 you made at the beginning of the round.

Repeat pattern rows 1 + 2 in this order. See image of the base above.

Sc round1, dc round 2 until bag is desired height.
At the end of your last round you should finish with a sc round. With your chosen contrasting colours, join first colour and work 3 rows of sc in back loop only. Close rounds with sc in first sc always.

Next 3 rows join 2nd colour. Work 1 ch, sc into same place as ch 1. sc in back loop only of each sc around end with sc into first sc of the round. Fasten off tightly and cut yarn.
Lining
To make lining fold fabric in half with the right sides together. Turn bag inside out and
lay it on top of the folded lining fabric. Mark and cut a 1/4 of an inch away from the sides of the bag. Do not cut away the bottom fold. Marking should just curve down the corners. Sew the sides of the bag lining down the curved corners. Do not turn lining inside out. Fold the edge of lining about 1/2 inch over and press. Put the lining inside the bag with the right side facing upwards.

Put both hands inside the bag and shape the corners like you would a pillow case or quilt. Now
carefully use a safety pin and pin the bottom of the bag to the bottom of the lining to prevent
it moving while you sew the top. Align the top of the fold over lining to the top of the 3rd row of the first contrast sc row. Using a sewing needle and matching thread, slip stitch lining to bag. Fasten thread and cut. Check work thoroughly and this stage. Look at the image on the left.

Straps

[Recycling straps from another bag is also a good idea. I used the strap from a brand new shopping bag for mine.]
To make straps, make a ch length to your desired strap length and work sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of row. Ch 1, turn, sc in base of ch 1. Continue to end of row until there is a sc in the first sc of the row. Repeat until you have 1/2 to 2 inches of however wide you

want it. sc in last sc. Fasten off and cut yarn. Make another strap the same way.

Place marker 2 inches away from sides of bag and sew in place.

Decorate the bag as you wish.

This is my finished bag.

If you have any questions, please comment on this post. I will try to correct any errors.

I like this little number. Great little evening bag. Also big enough to carry the essentials. Suits most outfits whatever the colour.

Bags for summer

This is my favourite for summer. Small enough to carry and big enough to hold all my essentials.

I also made a bigger version.

Hi
I'm back. Hoping I will be successful in adding the bags as promised earlier.

Sunny Goodies for Sunny Days

Hi folks

The sun has done a dissappearing act today, but I'm still shining with my hooks.
I'm now adding a few more goodies. I make most of these without a pattern but if you want some Ideas on any of my work just let me know. I can either create the pattern or make it for you. I often have things on E Bay.

Thanks for looking.
Be back soon

Thursday 28 April 2011

I must be having a good day. I am currently working on another of my summer bags.
Il'l be needing a bigger bedroom if I cant sell these to make room for my other half.
Here I will show you some more stuff.

I'm back again with a few more of my handy work.
Can you not feel the itch?

This is a 4 piece table set. A few more of these would make a great gift any time of year.

Baby & You

Wow, time flies when your hooks are working.

I no sooner finish one bag or baby item before something else appear in my creative mind.

Has anyone noticed how fast these crochet itching bugs have been spreading?

I've been busy and its its nearly summer. I will try and post a few more of my bags today.
I can help with patterns but right now its faster to click the hooks than to write.
